What if we can understand our lab test results too?
Doctors review reports with us as usual. Now, we can make use of AI to better understand those test reports at home, such as “What are the key findings? What symptoms should I watch for at home?”
- During our consultation with our doctors, we often find it hard to fully understand our diagnostic reports in such a short period of time.
- It’s also hard to think of all the questions we want to ask on the spot.
- Medical terminology can be difficult to understand and remember.
- These challenges are magnified for non-native English speakers.
I have decided to help bridge this gap and created Clarity recently. It’s one of the most ambitious projects I have taken on.
Here is how it works:
After we have completed our lab tests, our doctor would review the test results’ highlights with us as usual.
If we wish to get more clarity afterwards, we can make use of Clarity to translate the medical results to simple language for us. It’s available on Windows, Mac, iOS and Android.

- Download the test report from your provider (e.g. LifeLabs) and use Clarity to open that PDF or image file.
- Clarity would first perform a local scan to redact personal information such as our names so AI won’t see them.
- The redacted report would then be analyzed to generate a summary for you, outlining three main topics:
- What are the key findings?
- What should you do at home to better manage your conditions?
- What warning signs you should be mindful of?
After that, you can ask Clarity further questions about your test results to better understand those findings.
It is multi-lingual too. Clarity can ingest reports in different languages, generate summary and answer questions in:
- English
- Français
- Español
- Português
- 简体中文 (Simplified Chinese)
- 繁體中文 (Traditional Chinese)
- हिन्दी (Hindi)
- Tiếng Việt (Vietnamese)
Our doctor’s analysis is always the most important and trustworthy source of information. Technology is for the extra assistance only. When in doubt, always consult your doctor as your primary resource.
I made Clarity as part of my Canadian non-profit called Evergreen-Labs.org. No ads, no purchases required and no data harvesting. It’s a community giveback project.
Hope this helps!
